Scranton, PA – Marywood University used a 13-3 run over the final 4:37 of the first half to take control of Tuesday evening's non-conference men's basketball match-up with Penn-State-Scranton on their way to a 99-67 victory. The Pacers notched their fourth-straight win and improved to 4-1 on the season while the Lions fell to 0-2.

After Penn State-Scranton took a 4-2 lead just over a minute into the game on a Adam Joyce field goal, but the host Pacers responded with a 12-2 run over the next two minutes to build a 14-6 advantage with 16:47 to play in the opening stanza.

The Lions would battle back over the next nine minutes and eventually take a 29-27 lead with 6:00 to play in the opening stanza when Tim Silsby drained a three-point shot.

John Foreman (Sleepy Hollow, NY) responded with a pair of lay-ups, each assisted by Sidney Tharpe (Victorville, CA), to put the Pacers back in front. Marywood closed the half with a 13-3 run to go into the locker room with a 42-32 lead.

Coming out of the break, the Pacers continued to stretch their lead with strong shooting, hitting 53 percent of their field goal attempts in the second half including connecting on four of six shots from beyond the arc. The Lions, who shot 46 percent from the field for the game, were unable to narrow Marywood's 10-point halftime lead in the second frame.

Marywood got a game-high 26 points from Tharpe, who also contributed four assists in the win. Foreman ended the night with 15 points as did Prince Blacknall (Stroudsburg, PA), who remained perfect from the free-throw line on the season after connecting on all five of his attempts from the charity stripe. Chadli Charlot (Lake Worth, FL) was the fourth Pacer to hit double-digits after registering 10 points on the evening.

The Pacers, who finished the evening with 21 assists as a team, were led by six each from Blacknall and Lester Owens (Manalapan, NJ).

Penn State-Scranton was paced by Joyce's 16 points. Stott and Joe Gibbons each added 15 points in a losing effort for the Lions.

Marywood will return to action this Saturday when they host Misericordia University a week to the day after the Pacers' 61-58 victory over the Cougars in the championship game of the Laurel Line Tournament. The former conference foes will tip-off at 3:00 p.m. in Marywood's Insalaco Arena.
