BOX SCORE

Scranton, PA – Karl Anderson hit a three-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining to lift Marywood to a 93-91 win over Delaware Valley College in non-conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Eric Grundman earned his 200th career collegiate coaching victory as the Pacers improved to 6-4 on the season while the Aggies fall to 2-5.

Marywood led by as many as seven points over the first six and a half minutes of the game, but Delaware Valley leveled the score at 17-17 on a Jason Goldheimer three-pointer with 13:16 left in the first half.

The remainder of the half was a see-saw affair as the two teams traded the lead 11 times, with the visiting Aggies going into the locker room with a 38-37 lead.

Marywood reclaimed the lead on an Anderson (Macungie, PA) field goal just over a minute and a half into the second half, a lead the Pacers would hold until the 6:56 mark when Chris Mayo tied the score at 66-66 with a lay-up.

The Pacers responded and built a six-point lead at 78-72 when Prince Blacknall (Stroudsburg, PA) converted the front end of a pair of free throws with 1:30 to play, but a 9-0 run, highlight by seven points by James Jones, put Delaware Valley up 81-78 with 21 seconds to play.

Blacknall and Jones traded field goals, and the Aggies held a two-point edge with 12 seconds left.

After a Marywood timeout, Sidney Tharpe (Victorville, CA) forced overtime as his runner in the lane fell with one second showing on the clock.

Delaware Valley scored the first five points in overtime, but Marywood battled back to level the score at 89-89 with 53 seconds remaining on a lay-up by Matthew Medici (Princeton Junction, NJ).

Mayo put the visitors back on top by draining a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining, but the Pacers raced down the floor and Anderson, with an Aggie defender in his face, canned an off-balance three-pointer with 2.1 seconds left.

The Aggies turned over the ensuing inbounds pass, and Pat Lambert (Kingsley, PA) made one of two free throws after Delaware Valley was forced to foul.

Delaware Valley was unable to get off a shot after Lambert's free throw conversion, giving the Pacers the 93-91 win.

Marywood, who shot 48.5 percent from the floor, were led by Blacknall, who finished the day with 32 points on 11 of 17 shooting from the floor. The senior also dished out a game-high six assist for the Pacers, who also got a double-double from Tharpe, who finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Medici was the third Pacer to score double-digits after netting 17 points.

Jones recorded a double-double for the Aggies with a game-high 36 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Goldheimer finished with 16 points; while Mayo fell a rebound shy of a double-double of his own with 15 points and nine rebounds for Delaware Valley, who shot 42 percent from the floor for the game.

The Pacers are off until after the New Year, and will return to action on Tuesday, January 6th when they host Moravian College in a non-conference match-up slated for 7:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
