Scranton, PA – Gwynedd-Mercy College used an 18-0 run over a 10-minute stretch in the first half and never looked back as the visiting Griffins cruised to a 86-43 PAC women's basketball win over Marywood University Thursday evening in Scranton.  The win moves the Griffins to 18-5 (13-1 PAC) while the Pacers slipped to 11-11 (4-10 PAC).

The Griffins, who shot 50% on 16 of 32 shots from the floor in the opening frame, broke open a 4-4 game with an 18-0 run that lasted nearly 10 minutes.  Gwynedd-Mercy took their largest lead of the first half at the break, up 24 at 43-13.  Lauren Rosar and Karen Tierney each led the Griffins at halftime with nine points apiece, while Jackie Dooley added eight and had a team-high six rebounds at intermission.  Marywood's Caitlin Hadzimichalis had eight going into the locker room as the Pacers shot just 19.4% from the floor and were 0-of-6 from three-point land at the end of the first half.

Marywood returns to action Saturday as the Pacers host the College of Notre Dame (MD) at 1:00 pm.  Marywood will honor their lone senior, Deidre Gill, prior to the game and the game will coincide with the WBCA's “Think Pink” program, bringing awareness to breast cancer throughout the country.
