Ft. Pierce, FL - Marywood University gave up four runs in the first and then four unearned runs over over two innings later in the game as the Pacers fell to Bethany College (WV) 9-3 Saturday afternoon in non-conference baseball action in Fort Pierce, Florida.  The loss drops the Pacers to 1-2 on the young season.

Bethany jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and would plate two more in the seventh and eighth to expand their lead.  All runs in the seventh and eighth were unearned and Marywood gave up a total of five unearned runs on the day.  Starting pitcher Korey Evans (Goshen, NY) took the loss after striking out two over five innings of work.  Alex Magid (South Salem, NY) pitched three innings of relief work and gave up the four unearned runs in the 7th and 8th innings, all of which were scored on errors by Marywood fielders.

Justin Linko (Scranton, PA) led the Marywood offense with a three-hit performance, while Chris Shewack (Mountaintop, PA) and Joe Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA) each belted two hits.

Marywood also dropped a JV game to Delaware Valley College later in the evening by a score of 10-6.  Senior Matt Heymann (Horseheads, NY) led the Pacers with three hits while classmate Ross Turetsky (Scranton, PA) had two hits.

Marywood returns to action in Florida on Monday when the Pacers take on Utica College (NY) in a double-header at 11:00 am.
