Ft. Pierce, FL - Marywood University earned their third split of the young 2008 season Tuesday afternoon as the Pacers closed out their annual spring break trip to Florida with a win and a loss against Earlham College (IN) Tuesday afternoon in Fort Pierce, Florida.  Marywood has split all three double-headers they have played in so far and will return north with a 3-4 record.

Marywood took the opener 4-2 over Earlham as the Pacers' Greg Cleary (Parsippany, NJ) picked up his second win of the season after pitching a complete game.  Cleary (2-0) struck out eight over seven innings of work.  Tied 2-2 in the sixth, Cleary's brother Jeff led off the inning with a walk.  Pinch-runner Joe Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA) promptly swiped second and third base and scored on a Shane McAndrew (Clarks Summit, PA) sacrafice fly.  Marywood would then get a two-run cushion after Pat Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA), Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) and Justin Linko (Scranton, PA) all singled.  Chris Shewack (Mountaintop, PA) had two hits, including a double, and McAndrew finished the opener with two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Earlham scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to upend Marywood 10-9.  Mark Granquist (Honesdale, PA) took the loss on the mound for Marywood.  Granquist (1-2) pitched one inning after replacing Korey Evans (Goshen, NY) who went three full.  Alex Magid (South Salem, NY) started and went 2.2 innings and Jeff Cleary faced three batters in the Pacers' loss.

Marywood returns north Wednesday and will play host to Widener University in a non-conference tilt Tuesday March 25th.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
