Pacers Topple Alvernia in Key PAC Match, 8-1

Scranton, PA - Needing a win to claim at least a share of the PAC regular season title heading into next weekend's Team Championships, Marywood University turned in a dominating performance, toppling visiting Alvernia College 8-1 in men's tennis action Thursday afternoon in Scranton.  The win keeps the Pacers perfect on the year at 10-0 and 6-0 in PAC action, while Alvernia slips to 6-5 (4-2 PAC).

Marywood swept doubles action as the one-doubles team of Kyle McGee and Dan Reynolds remained perfect on the year in PAC play (6-0) with a 8-1 win over Zach Lockwood and Phil Snyder.  At two-doubles, Joe Listanski and Tim Franzone improved to 10-0 (6-0 PAC) with a 8-1 win as well, and at three doubles Greg Chilson and John Domider improved to 2-0 with a 8-3 win. 

In singles play, McGee (Wynnewood, PA) remained unbeated (9-0, 6-0 PAC) with a win over Lockwood, who was forced to retire down 3-0 in the first set due to injury.  Listanski (Jessup, PA) upped his record to 9-1 (8-1 at two-singles) with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the second slot over Phil Snyder.  Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) stayed with McGee in the ranks of the unbeatens with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) win over Dave Schaeffer.  At four singles, Franzone (Staten Island, NY) easily upped his record to 8-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ryan Lineweaver, and at six singles Reynolds (Meriden, CT) advanced past Aaron Dearstyne with a 6-3, 6-2 win. 

Alvernia picked up their lone point of the day at 5-singles as Eric Snyder defeated Chad McKee (Coatesville, PA) in a super tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. 

Marywood returns to action Saturday with their last PAC regular season match of the year as the Pacers travel to Immaculata University for a 1:00 pm match.
