Scranton, PA - Marywood University picked up a key split with Cabrini College Friday afternoon in softball action as the Pacers rallied for a 9-8 win in the opener before falling to the Cavaliers 7-6 in the nightcap.  The split puts the Pacers at 13-13 and 3-9 in PAC play and keeps their playoff hopes alive while Cabrini goes to 10-17, 7-6 PAC.

Marywood fell behind early in the opener as starting pitcher Lauren Monaco (Carle Place, NY) made it through just one and two-thirds inning after giving up seven runs on nine hits.  Nikki Belles (Rome, PA) picked up the win after pitching the remaining 5.1 innings and allowing just a single run while scattering six hits. Belles improved to 5-1 with the win. 

Down 7-1 after 1 1/2 innings, Marywood's bats came alive and the Pacers got five in the second, one in the fourth and two in the sixth to rally for the win.  Erika Cook (Wyalusing, PA) went 2-3 with an RBI while Megan Haikes (Scranton, PA)  went 2-3 with two RBI and Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) went 1-4 with two RBI as well.  Miranda Sorber (Hunlock Creek, PA) picked up an RBI after roaping a double as part of her 1-3 performance.

Cabrini was led by Kristie Sandefur (Philadelphia, PA) who went 2-4 with a homer and three RBI.  Kelsie LaBauve (New Orleans, LA) went 3-4 with a triple and two RBI and Melissa Benedetti (Collingswood, NJ) went 3-4 with an triple and an RBI.  Cheyenne White (Waterbury, VT) took the loss in the opener for the Cavaliers after 2.1 innings of relief work.  The freshman struck out three Pacers and allowed two runs on just one hit.  Starting pitcher Rachel Davis (Waterford Works, NJ) went 3.2 innings while giving up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Cook continued her solid performance at the plate for the Pacers by goign 4-4 with a triple and three RBI, but it was not enough as the Cavaliers escaped with a 7-6 win.  The visitors got a 3-4 performance from Sandefur in the nightcap and a 2-4, two-run performance from Benedetti. Sandefur had a triple and a double while picking up two RBI.  Cheri Johns picked up the complete-game win for Cabrini by striking out four over seven innings.

Mallory Gable (Hughestown, PA) fell to 4-6 with the loss for Marywood after striking out four in a complete-game effort.  Brittany Davis (Scranton, PA) went 2-4 with two RBI as well.  Colleen Regan (Endwell, NY) joined Davis and Haikes with a double in the nightcap.

Marywood hosts Centenary College Saturday at noon in another important PAC doubleheader.
