Giants Take 5-2 Win Over Marywood

LaPlume, PA - Eight different Keystone players recorded hits as the host Giants picked up a 5-2 non-conference baseball victory over Marywood University Tuesday afternoon in LaPlume.  With the victory the Giants move to 18-8 on the year, while Marywood falls to 11-13.

Down one in the third, Marywood tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Joe Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA).  The Giants responded with three runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.  Marywood cut the Giant lead to two on Matt Newcomb's (Honesdale, PA) second homer of the year, but Keystone would add one more in the eighth for the 5-2 win. 

Cody Collins and Drew Boandl each picked up two hits, while Collins also drove in a run.  Giovannie Sanchez and Kyle Conrad recorded the only extra base hits for Keystone with each knocking out a double.  Yadiel Lanzo worked seven innings, allowing both Marywood runs, to earn the win.  John Pierson worked a perfect ninth to record the save.

Joseph Valvano (Katanah, NY) fell to 0-3 on the mound for the Pacers after giving up four runs on six hits over six innings of work.  Valvano struck out five on the day.  Jeff Cleary (Parsippany, NJ) pitched the final two innings, allowing one run on four hits.

Marywood will host Baptist Bible College Thursday afternoon in a single non-conference game.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
