Scranton, PA - Freshman Stefano Curto picked up his first collegiate win on the mound and Marywood belted 13 hits as part of a 11-5 non-conference win over visiting Baptist Bible College Thursday afternoon in Scranton.  The win puts the Pacers at 12-13 heading into a key three-game series with Alvernia this weekend while the Defenders slip to 6-16.

Curto (Coopersburg, PA) went six innings on the mound and allowed no earned runs to move to 1-0 on the year.  The freshman, pictured at left, struck out five on the day while allowing just five hits.  Alex Magid (South Salem, NY) came on in relief and pitched the final three innings, allowing one earned run on three hits.

Marywood opened the scoring with a three-run second and followed with a five-run third to take an early 8-0 lead.  The Defenders answered with two in the fifth and one in the sixth, but it was not enough as both teams plated two in the seventh for the final margin.

Pat Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA) went 2-2 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Pacers offensively, while Justin Linko (Scranton, PA) went 2-2 with two RBI.  David Lewis (Scranton, PA) went 2-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Eric Teysen (Mackinaw City, MI) dropped to 0-2 on the year for the Defenders after going 3.1 innings while allowing eight runs on nine hits.  Teysen struck out five and was replaced by Stephan Wright (Cleveland, OH) who went 3.2 innings and allowed just one earned run.  Samuel Arent (Taylor, MI) pitched the ninth for Baptist Bible and allowed just one hit.

Zach Dawson (Batavia, NY) went 3-5 with a run scored for BBC, while Brandon Isenhart (Elk Rapids, MI) was 1-3 with a two-run single.

Marywood returns to action Friday when they travel to Reading for a 3:00 pm single PAC game with Alvernia.  The Pacers and Crusaders will then take part in a twinbill Saturday in Scranton starting at 12:00 pm.
