Allentown, PA - Needing a sweep of Cedar Crest College to stay alive in the PAC playoff chase, Marywood University got just that as the Pacers topped the host Falcons 3-2 in the opener and 11-7 in the nightcap.  The wins puts Marywood at 16-14 overall and 6-10 in PAC play, while Cedar Crest fell to 12-14 (7-9 PAC).

In the opener, Marywood's Megan Haikes (Scranton, PA) belted a two-run homer in the sixth and the Pacers held on for a 3-2 win.  Haikes went 1-3 with two RBI on the day while Erika Cook (Wyalusing, PA) was 1-3 with one RBI.  After Marywood took a 1-0 lead in the third on an error, the hosts responded and tied the game in the fourth by stealing home.  Haikes would then belt her team-leading seventh long-ball of the year to play hero.

Mallory Gable (Hughestown, PA) went the distance on the mound for Marywood to pick up her fifth win of the year.  Gable struck-out eight Falcons in the opener while allowing just one earned run.

In the nightcap, Nikki Belles (Rome, PA) moved to 8-1 on the year after going 3.2 innings.  Belles was replaced by Lauren Bianchetti (Highland Mills, NY) who went 3.2 innings.  Gable even saw some relief time in the nightcap after getting the final out of the game.

The Pacers raced out to a 9-4 lead after just three innings of play and would not relinquish their lead.  Haikes and Cook both went deep in the nightcap for Marywood, as Cook went 2-5 with two RBI and two runs scored and Haikes was 1-4.

Marywood returns to action Saturday with a non-conference double-header at Wilkes.  First-pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Kirby Park in Edwardsville.
