Scranton, PA -  Alvernia College plated 23 runs on 24 hits over two games as the Crusaders  completed the series sweep of Marywood Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The  Crusaders took game one 12-2 before an 11-1 win in the nightcap.  Alvernia  improved to 28-8 (15-3 PAC) on the year with the wins while Marywood fell to  12-16 (4-9 PAC).
 
Alvernia took  control of game one early, plating seven runs over the first three innings  before Marywood could answer with one in the bottom half of the third.  Marywood  then made it 7-2 in the fourth, but Alvernia did the rest of the scoring in the  opener with five more runs over the final three innings.  Chris Stoudt picked  his fourth win of the year on the mound for Alvernia after striking out six  Pacers over a complete-game seven inning effort.  Dale Curry and Reid Martin  each led the Crusader bats with 3-4, 3-RBI efforts.  Curry and Martin each had a  double in the opener while Brendan Barry and Steve DeBarberie each had  triples.
 
Korey Evans (Goshen,  NY) took the loss on the mound for Marywood after going 4.2 innings and striking  out three.  Evans allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits.  Jeff Cleary  (Parsippany, NJ) pitched the final 2.1 innings for the Pacers, allowing one  earned run on three hits.  Pat Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA) was 1-1 with an RBI  and run scored to lead the Pacers offensively. 
 
In the nightcap,  Alvernia kept the bats rolling and once again as the Crusaders opened a 7-1 lead  after four innings.  The visitors would then use a four-run fourth to reach the  final margin, 11-1.  Curry was 2-3, with two doubles, 3-RBI and two runs scored  in the nightcap to lead the Crusader bats.  Chuck Nichols moved to 7-0 on the  year with a six-inning, eight strikeout performance on the mound.  Andrew Long  pitched the final inning for Alvernia, allowed one hit but struck out the  side.
 
Mark Granquist  (Honesale, PA) took the loss on the mound after going 5.2 innings.  The senior  struck out four on the day and was replaced by Alex Magid (South Salem, NY), who  pitched 1.1 innings and struck out two.  Greg Cleary was 2-2 with a double  and run scored in the nightcap for Marywood while Jason Bugno (Clarks Summit,  PA) was 2-3. 
 
Marywood returns to  action Monday with a non-conference single game against Wilkes University.   First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
