Radnor, PA – Kyle McGee battled a nagging knee injury and cooler April temperatures but the senior came through for Marywood with a three-set win over his number-one counterpart from Cabrini as the Pacers remained unbeaten on the year with a 6-3 win over the Cavaliers Wednesday afternoon in PAC men's tennis action.
Marywood (7-0, 3-0 PAC) swept doubles action on the day but needed McGee (Wynnewood, PA) to come through in singles play to gain the crucial fifth point of the match. McGee earlier teamed with Dan Reynolds (Meriden, CT) for an 8-5 win at doubles, and after winning the first set 7-5, had to battle through the pain in his knee during a 5-7 loss in the second set. McGee would then rebound and dominate the third set for a 6-0 win to put Marywood up 5-3 and remain unbeaten (6-0) in singles play on the year.
Joe Listanski (Jessup, PA) was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten with a two set (6-2, 7-5) loss to Justin Walsh in the two-singles slot, but remained perfect on the year (7-0) with doubles-partner Tim Franzone (Staten Island, NY) as the pair won 9-8 (7-2). Reynolds remained unbeaten (5-0) at six-singles with a three-set win, 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 and Greg Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) also remained unbeaten (6-0) in singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the three-slot.
