Scranton, PA - The University of Scranton moved to 25-9 on the season by sweeping Marywood University in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday evening at Tripp Park.  The Royals took the opener 5-2 and the nightcap 7-5.

Freshman Mia Collarini had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run and seniors Erin Moreau and Bridgett McGinley contributed two hits as the Royals won the opener, 5-2.  Senior pitcher Isabel Mendez earned her 14th victory of the season by scattering eight hits and striking out three.

Marywood took an early 1-0 lead on a leadoff home run to center field by junior Erika Cook (Wyalusing, PA), who finished with two hits and two RBI.  Senior Megan Haikes (Scranton, PA) belted two doubles and freshman Miranda Sorber (Hunlock Creek, PA) chipped in two hits for the Pacers.

In the nightcap, freshman Annie Zeleniak drove in four runs as the Royals overcame a 4-0 deficit to pull out a 7-5 victory in the nightcap.  Zeleniak belted a two-run home run in the first inning—her team-leading seventh of the season—and drove in two runs during a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth.  Scranton took advantage of three errors by the Pacers to score five unearned runs.

The Pacers jumped out to a 4-0 advantage on RBI doubles by Haikes and junior Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) and sacrifice flies by sophomore Kim Flanagan (Monroe, NY) and junior Stephanie Ziemski (Lake Hiawatha, NJ).  Cook and Hadzimichalis finished with three hits apiece and Ziemski drove in two runs for the Pacers, who fell to 16-18 on the year.

Marywood returns to action Friday when the Pacers host Rosemont College in a key PAC battle.  First-pitch is set for 3:00 pm.
