Hat-Tricks By Sodl, Waldon Not Enough As Pacers Fall to Knights

Aston, PAAllie Sodl and Alanna Waldron each scored three goals for Marywood, but it wasn't enough as Neumann earned a 16-7 win in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.  The Knights, who scored the first five goals of the game, improved to 4-5 on the season including a 3-3 mark in PAC play, while Marywood remains winless at 0-7 (0-6 PAC).

Neumann scored five goals in the first 10:14 of the game before Sodl (Coplay, PA) scored unassisted with 19:30 to play in the opening half.  The Knights would then score three more times in a span of just 55 seconds midway through the half to build an 8-1 lead. 

Sodl would complete her hat-trick by sandwiching a pair of goals around Rachael DiCicco's third goal of the game at the 6:49 mark, but the Knights scored twice more to take an 11-3 advantage into halftime.

Marywood would come out much stronger in the second half and battle the Knights much harder.  Waldon (Liverpool, NY) got a goal back for the Pacers six minutes into the period, but Neumann scored five consecutive goals the build a 16-4 lead with 6:40 to play, prompting Marywood to call a time-out.

After the time-out, the Pacers showed the Knights that they were not going to give up and scored the final three goals of the game.  Waldon netted her second goal of the game with 4:44 to play, while Kelly Kuzicki (Vernon, NJ) tallied with 3:06 to play. 

Waldon closed out the scoring at the 1:26 mark, scoring her third goal of the game and team-leading 14th of the season. 

Neumann held a 27-16 advantage in shots on the afternoon and a slim 20-18 edge in groundballs.

Carrie Glenn (Rifton, NY) had another solid defensive outing for the Pacers, leading all players by causing four turnovers, the second consecutive contest the sophomore has recorded a game-high in that category.

Caitlin O'Shea notched the win for the Knights by making seven saves while Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) took the loss despite making eight saves for Marywood. 

The Pacers will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Reading, PA to take on Alvernia College in a PAC match-up scheduled to face-off at 4:00 p.m.
