Oneonta, NY - Mandy Costello scored her second goal of the year off an assist from Caitlin Light with just under eight minutes remaining as visiting Marywood successfully defended their title in the fifth annual Erinn K. Brozman Cup with a 2-1 win over host Hartwick College Sunday afternoon in Oneonta.
Lisa Hanselman (Manheim, PA) scored her third goal of the year just over four minutes into the game when she finished off a Leslie Higham (North Brunswick, NJ) through ball by slotting Hartwick's keeper far-post. The Hawks (1-1) 12:24 into the second half when Alesha Wright took a pass from Marisa Streun and hit a rocket past diving Marywood keeper Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY).
Costello (Sussex, NJ) provided the Pacers' heroics after collecting Light's (Annville, PA) through ball and calmly dribbling in from the top of the 18 for the game-winner. Coyle collected four saves in goal for the Pacers while Hartwick's Kellyn Rowse had six.
Marywood returns to action Wednesday with their first home contest of the season as the Pacers host Lycoming College at 4:00 pm.
