BOX SCORE

Baltimore, MD - College of Notre Dame held off visiting Marywood with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-20) Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory Saturday afternoon. The Gators were paced by senior Kim Myers match-high 15 kills and sophomore Catherine Subrizi's match-high five service aces. Notre Dame improved to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play while Marywood fell to 3-10 and 1-2, respectively.

The Gators jumped out to a large lead in game one, starting the match out with a 13-6 run. The Pacers slowly battled back and were able to tie the game at 23 on a Notre Dame attack error. With the score knotted at 24 a piece, Subrizi was able to put down a kill which was followed by the game-winning point on a Pacer attack error.

Game two was setup and finished similar to game one. Notre Dame went up 22-13 on a Subrizi service ace. However, Marywood came up with an 8-1 run to pull within 23-21. The two point margin lasted with the score at 24-22. Notre Dame head coach Henry DeTitta called a timeout with Marywood having hold of the serve. The timeout proved effective as Pacer middle hitter Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) committed one of her five service aces on the day to hand the Gators the game two, 25-23, victory.

The third game started close from the beginning and remained that way until the end of the match. With the score tied at 17, the Gators were able to rattle off a 6-0 run en route to the 25-20 victory.

In addition to her five service aces, Subrizi registered ten kills and four digs. Sophomore setter Christina Kudrna dished out 29 assists and recorded a solo block while sophomore outside hitter India Scott contributed a match-high four blocks in the match.

Marywood was led by Green and Taryn Borden (Bridgewater, NJ), who each tallied eight kills. Natasha Freethy (Honesdale, PA) led the Pacer defensive effort with a match-high 11 digs.

The Gators were able to pull off the 3-0 win despite hitting .189 to Marywood's .272 in the match. The Pacers committed 12 service errors to the Gators five in the match.

The Pacers will return to action Tuesday when they host the Falcons of Cedar Crest College in a CSAC match-up scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
