Scranton, PA - Marywood University battled sloppy field conditions and used a three-goal burst in the beginning of the second half en route to their third straight shutout, a 3-0 win over visiting Philadelphia Biblical University Saturday afternoon in CSAC women's soccer action. The win moves the Pacers to 5-4-1 (2-0 CSAC) on the year while the Crimson Eagles fall to 2-7 (0-3 CSAC).

Marywood, who enjoyed a 31-2 advantage of shots on the day, had a 14-0 edge in opportunities in the opening half but could not find the back of the net as sloppy field conditions and Crimson Eagle keeper Kristen Lyszczasz kept the Pacers off the board. Marywood opened the second half with a quick offensive burst, getting all the scoring they would need in the opening 8:10 of the second stanza. Erica Mechalke (Elmira, NY) opened the scoring for the Pacers by picking up a loose ball just :12 seconds into the second half and scoring from 8-yards out. Just over six minutes later Leslie Higham (North Brunswick, NJ) made it 2-0 in favor of the hosts by heading home an Andrea Barker (Binghamton, NY) cross.

Lisa Gavin (Woodbury Heights, NJ) finished the scoring on the day 8:10 into the second half by converting a penalty kick. Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) was not forced to make any saves on the day in picking up her third consecutive shut-out. Lyszczasz finished the day with 14 saves in 90 minutes of action.

Marywood returns to the field Wednesday when they travel to Aston, PA to face CSAC foe Neumann College at 4:00 pm. The game will be played at Sun Valley High School due to field construction at Neumann College.
