Box Score

Scranton, PAMarywood University's Mandy Costello scored off an assist from Jennifer Slesinski just :54 seconds into the game but the Pacers had to hold off a strong second half surge from visiting Lycoming as both teams played to a 1-1 draw in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon in Scranton.

Costello (Sussex, NJ) took a Slesinski (Middletown, NY) cross from the left side of the field and hit a beautiful one-time finish past diving Warrior goalkeeper Chelsea Powers.  Lycoming (0-1-2) began to threaten the Pacers' back-line early in the second half and never let up the pressure, scoring the equalizer at the 66-minute mark when Kari Shaner picked up a loose ball on the top of the 18 and beat Marywood net-minder Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY).

Lycoming had several other nice chances in the final ten minutes of regulation and the first overtime but Coyle and the Pacers defense kept the Warriors scoreless the remainder of the game.

Coyle made 10 saves in 110 minutes of action while Powers made eight stops for the Warriors.  Marywood (2-0-1) returns to action this weekend when they visit Wilkes University for the Colonel Classic in Edwardsville on Saturday at 2:30.  The Pacers will then play Moravian College Sunday at 2:30 in Edwardsville as well.
