BOX SCORE

Scranton, PA - Marywood University did not allow a field goal for a 12:45 stretch extending over both periods and Marielle Thorsen was one rebound shy of a double-double as host Marywood cruised past visiting Philadelphia Biblical University 63-32 in CSAC women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The win moves the Pacers to 7-4 (2-2 CSAC) on the year while the Crimson Eagles fall to 3-5 (1-2 CSAC).

Playing an earlier start time than expected due to expected inclement weather, both teams came out of the gate slowly as only 12 points were scored over the opening 9:46 of the game. Unfortunately for the visiting Crimson Eagles, their cold shooting continued for the rest of the first half and into the second half. Trailing 10-4 at the 10:14 mark of the first half, Marywood used an 18-0 run over the next 5:47 to take a commanding 22-10 lead. The Pacers did not allow PBU to score from the field the remainder of the first half, as only a Dani Norton free-throw stopped Marywood's run. The Pacers closed the half on a smaller 6-0 run and went into the lockerroom with a 28-11 lead. Thorsen (Belvidere, NJ) had ten first-half points of four of six shooting, including a 50% clip (2 for 4) from behind the arc. While both teams combined for a sloppy 30 turnovers in the opening half, Marywood was able to take the most advantage of miscues, scoring 13 points on 16 PBU turnovers.

The cold shooting continued into the second half for PBU, as they would not score until the 17:30 mark of the second half. By that point, Marywood had extened their lead to 32-11 and would eventually go up by as many as 27 midway through the second half. Thorsen grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, all on the defensive end, to finish just one board shy of a double-double effort. She finished the game with a game-high 24 points on 10 of 13 shooting from the floor (4 of 6 from three-point range). Maggie Farrell (Telford, PA) was the only other Pacer to reach double-digits, going five of eight from the floor and sinking a free throw for 11 points on the day.

PBU was led by Sara Poole's 11 point effort on 4 of 7 shooting.

Marywood returns to action Monday evening when they square off against former conference foe Misericordia University. Tip-off at Misericordia's Anderson Center (Dallas, PA) is set for 7:00 pm.
