La Plume, PA – Marywood University got goals from three different players on their way to a 3-0 win over Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Pacers improve to 4-6-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play while the Giants fall to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the CSAC.
Joshua Hicks (Spring Brook, PA) gave Marywood a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute of Saturday's game after running onto a header from Brett Megee (Easton, PA) and blasting a right-footed shot past Keystone goalkeeper Ryan Gilroy for his first goal of the season.
Ryan Jones (Holland, PA) would extend the Pacers' lead to 2-0 just under 10 minutes later by heading home a free kick served into the Giants' penalty area by Andrew Tarantino (Vernon, NJ). Marywood would hold the two-goal lead at halftime after out-shooting Keystone 11-1 in the opening 45 minutes of play.
Megee capped the scoring just 3:05 into the second half by heading home a corner kick from Jones for his team-leading third goal of the season.
Marywood held a commanding 22-2 advantage in shots for the game and finished with a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
Jared El-Gayeh (Baldwin, NY) was credited with two saves in 79 minutes of action before giving way to Matthew Roman (Williamsport, PA) who preserved the Pacers' third shutout of the season without making a save.
Marywood returns to action on Tuesday when they host Baptist Bible College in a CSAC battle scheduled to kickoff at 4:00 p.m. in Scranton.
