Marywood Sets Program Record 10-Game Unbeaten Streak with Shutout

Scranton, PA - Marywood University blanked visiting Cedar Crest College 8-0 Wednesday afternoon to establish a new program record 10-game unbeaten streak and improve to 5-0-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play. The Pacers, now 9-2-1 on the year, are on a 9-0-1 run and have not lost since September 5. The Falcons fell to 3-10-1 (1-5 CSAC) with the loss. Marywood broke a program record nine-game unbeaten streak they set last fall, during which they went 9-0-0 before losing their final regular season CSAC game to Immaculata.

Marywood scored six goals with a seven minute span in the opening fifteen minutes of play and never looked back. Tayler Simmons (Hopewell Junction, NY) scored at 8:58 on a rebound of her own shot. Lisa Hanselman (Manheim, PA) then scored 2:01 later on a breakaway to put the hosts up 2-0 and Siobhan Blancaflor (Haddam, CT) made a long solo run down the left flank just 56-seconds later to put Marywood up 3-0.

A minute and a half later, Olivia Habicht (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) headed home a cross from her sister, Lacey, to give the Pacers a 4-0 lead. Just over a minute later the hosts went up 5-0 when Lisa Gavin (Woodbridge, NJ) scored on a Hanselman cross with a shot to the far post. Olivia Habicht then netted her second goal of the game on an assist from Blancaflor when she one-timed a pass to the far-post to put the hosts up 6-0, a lead they would take into the break.

In the second half, Jennifer Slesinski (Middletown, NY) scored unassisted with a left-footed chip shot to the far post and reserve goalkeepers Jessica Shotwell and Dominique Kozuch teammed up for the eigth and final goal when Shotwell (Philadelphia, PA) scored on an assist from Kozuch (Jermyn, PA) after Kozuch sent her own rebound across the goalmouth for Shotwell to finish.

Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) collected a shutout in net for the Pacers after making three stops, while Cedar Crest's Stephanie Carroll made 12 saves. Marywood out-shot the visitors 30-3 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Marywood travels to Gwynedd Valley on Saturday for a rematch of last season's CSAC Championship game with Gwynedd-Mercy College. Kickoff between the Pacers and Griffins is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
