Marywood Stays in Playoff Hunt, Blank Notre Dame 3-0

Scranton, PA - Marywood University got goals from three different players and the Pacers downed visiting College of Notre Dame 3-0 in CSAC field hockey action to remain alive in the chase for one of six playoff spots. Marywood improved to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in CSAC action while the Gators fell to 1-12 and remain winless in the Conference at 0-7. Marywood currently holds the fifth place spot in the standings, three wins ahead of Cedar Crest who stands in sixth.

Amber Mohrmann (Prompton, PA) scored her third goal of the season just 4:32 into the game on an assist from fellow freshman Morgan Walsh (Leesport, PA). Then, with just over five minutes remaining in the half, Marywood doubled their lead as Carly Bergstrom (Raritan, NJ) found the back of the net off a feed from Kari Eiklor (Apalachin, NY).

In the second half, Brittany Beaton (Fleetwood, PA) added yet another insurance goal for the hosts, her team-leading fifth tally of the year, as Marywood went up 3-0. Jamie Bowman (Cheshire, CT) made three stops to collect her second shutout of the season in goal for the Pacers, while Notre Dame's Jessica Maier made six saves in the loss.

Marywood returns to action Monday when they host former conference foe Misericordia University at 4:00 pm.
