Philadelphia, PA - Marywood University had early leads in all three doubles matches but Gwynedd-Mercy College battled back in each and advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference women's tennis championship match Sunday with a 5-0 win over the Pacers Saturday afternoon at the HealthPlex Tennis Comlpex outside of Philadelphia.  Marywood closes their season with a 7-7 mark while the Griffins improve to 16-2 on the year.

In No. 1 doubles, Marywood's team of Ashley Karli (Blandon, PA) and Kara Hoff (Montoursville, PA) did all they could to slow down the Griffins' team of Davida Phillips and Erin Fallson, but the GMC duo battled for a 8-6 win.  In No. 2 doubles, Lindsay Burke (Yorktown, NY) and CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team selection Beth Schneider (Port Jervis, NY) dropped an 8-5 decision to Chelsea Donde and Jessica Scarpello.  At No. 3 doubles the team of Jessica Brogna (Pittston, PA) and Kellie Coleman (Carbondale, PA), fresh off an honorable mention All-CSAC selection, fell to Gwynedd's Heather Morgan and Cori Wessner by an identical 8-5 score.

In singles play, Scarpellow downed Schneider 6-1, 6-2 before Chelsea Donde closed the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lindsay Burke.  Gwynedd-Mercy will now await the winner of Saturday's second semifinal match being played between second seeded Neumann University and third seeded Cedar Crest College.
