Second Half Goals Send Keystone Past Marywood

Scranton, PA – Keystone College used a pair of second half goals, including a penalty stroke, as the visiting Giants topped Marywood University 2-0 in CSAC field hockey action Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The win gives the Giants a 7-2 overall record and keeps them unbeaten in conference play at 2-0 while the Pacers fall to 2-7 (1-3 CSAC).

After a scoreless first half with back and forth action, Keystone opened the scoring with a penalty stroke three minutes into the second half. Nicole Macedonia placed the stroke in the upper left corner of the cage to give the Giants a 1-0 lead. Nearly 20 minutes later, Macedonia set up an insurance goal for Keystone by sliding a pass to Kellina Yarrish who beat Marywood keeper Jamie Bowman (Cheshire, CT) for a 2-0 lead.

Bowman finished the day with seven saves while Melinda Moore picked up the shutout in goal for Keystone with seven stops as well. Marywood returns to action Thursday October 8 with a non-conference game at Wells College in New York.
