Scranton, PA - After starting the season 0-5, Marywood University won it's fifth consecutive match to climb back to .500 on the year and move to 5-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play when the Pacers defeated visiting College of Notre Dame Sunday afternoon in women's tennis action.  The Gators fell to 3-7 (2-6 CSAC) with the loss.

After sweeping doubles action to take a 3-0 lead, Marywood quickly captured the necessary five points for a win with three easy matches at three, five and six singles.  Linsday Burke (Yorktown, NY) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 while both Aubrey Klesh (West Hazleton, PA) and Kristin Guba (Latham, NY) won by 6-1, 6-0 scores at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Notre Dame grabbed their first point of the day when Marywood No. 1 Ashley Karli (Blandon, PA) was forced to retire.  After winning her opening set 6-2, an injury forced Karli to sit the remainder of the match, giving Miku White the win for the Gators.  Nicole Siddall (Goshen, CT) battled hard for a three-set win over Steph Thackoodeen to give Marywood an 7-1 lead.  Siddall came back from a 7-5 setback in the opening set to win the second set 6-4 and the tiebreaker 10-5.

Kelcy Bye closed out the day with Notre Dame's second point of the day, winning 2-0 over Marywood's Kara Hoff (Montoursville, PA).  After dropping the opening set 7-6 (7-4), Hoff battled back from a 5-2 deficit in the second set to force another tiebreaker, but Bye closed her out 7-3 for the 7-6 win.

Marywood will look for their sixth straight win when they return to the courts Tuesday with a home match against Keystone College at 3:30 pm.
