Aurora, NY - Sophomore Julie Dougherty scored the game-winning stroke-off goal as Marywood University topped host Wells College 2-1 in non-conference field hockey action Wednesday afternoon in New York. Junior Brittany Beaton scored the game-tying goal to force overtime for Marywood, allowing the Pacers to win in a stroke-off to improve to 3-7 on the year. Wells fell to 1-9 with the loss.

Adrienne Tomao scored 25 minutes off a feed from Stefanie Miller to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Marywood came out of the gates slow and did not generate a shot in the opening period while the hosts put nine on goal, forcing Pacers' net-minder Julie Bowman (Cheshire, CT) to make four first-half stops.

Marywood changed course in the second half, out-shooting the Express 4-1 and getting the game-tying goal from Beaton (Bethel, PA) with just over 16 minutes remaining. Beaton scored unassisted for her second goal of the year.

In strokes, Maggie Brittain (Clarks Summit, PA) made her attempt but Wells' Shelby Moszkowicz answered. Dougherty then netted her eventual game-winning stroke and Bowman prevented any other Express player from converting for the 2-1 win.

Marywood returns to action Saturday at 1:00 pm when the Pacers host Immaculata University in a CSAC game.
