Box Score

Dallas, PA - Misericordia University used a strong first-half performance en route to reclaiming the Laurel Line Championship with a 77-61 win over defending champion Marywood University Saturday evening at Misericordia's Anderson Center in Dallas.  The win keeps the Cougars unbeaten at 3-0 on the young season while the Pacers suffered their first loss and fall to 2-1.

Marywood sophomore transfer Matt Lepri (Tannersville, PA) tied for a game-high 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the floor including a three of seven effort from three-point range.  However, Misericordia's Jeff Slanovec also had 17 points and had help from two other Cougars in double figures as the hosts avenged a 61-58 defeat to Marywood in the 2008 Laurel Line Championship game.

Dom Del Prete added 14 points for Misericordia while Robbie Johnson added 13.  Misericordia built a 41-24 lead at intermission thanks in part to 40% shooting from the floor before the break.  Perhaps the biggest difference in the game was that the Cougars got 19 points on the free throw line compared to Marywood's four.  The Pacers only went to the charity stripe eight times all night.

D.J. Strayhorn (Henryville, PA) and John Foreman (Sleepy Hollow, NY) each added eight points for the Pacers.  Jacques Robinson (Athens, GA) had a team-high five rebounds.  Marywood hit just 34% of their shots from the field and connected on only 23% of their efforts from long-range.

Marywood will look to get back on track with a non-conference tilt against Penn State Worthington Scranton Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 8:00 pm at Marywood's Insalaco Arena following the women's 6:00 pm game versus Wilkes.
