Scranton, PA – Philadelphia Biblical University avenged a regular season loss to Marywood University in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball playoffs on Tuesday evening and scored a 3-0 sweep of the Pacers to advance to CSAC semifinals. The Crimson Eagles, now 19-14 on the year, advance to take on Neumann University.
Philadelphia Biblical, the third seed in this year's tournament, claimed victories in the first two games of Tuesday evening's quarterfinal match-up by identical 25-21 scores. The Crimson Eagles closed out the sixth-seeded Pacers 25-19 in the third set to pick up the three games to none win.
Philadelphia Biblical, who lost 3-0 to the Pacers on October 10th, was led by Carly Plank's 13 kills while getting eight apiece from Lindsay Dager and Rachel Calderon. Betsy Ranck recorded a match-high 30 assists while Kay Lynn Zeiset led the Crimson Eagles with 15 digs.
Marywood, who was making their first postseason appearance since 2006, was led by Emily Fillman (Clarion, PA) who finished the evening with 12 kills and 10 digs to record with a double-double. Alyssa Hartranft (Mountain Top, PA) had a team-best 22 assists, while Taryn Borden (Bridgewater, NJ) led the Pacers with 11 digs.
Marywood closes out the season with a 10-16 record.
