Scranton, PA - Jacques Robinson's career-high 28 points was not enough as visiting Misericordia University held on for a 77-72 win over host Marywood University Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action at Marywood's Insalaco Arena.  The win moves the Cougars to 6-3 while Marywood dropped its fifth straight and falls to 3-6.

Robinson (Athens, GA) led all scorers with a career night, dropping 28 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor, but a balanced scoring attack from Misercordia's Jeff Slavonec (17 points), Dom Del Prete (16), Robbie Johnson (14) and Mark Williams (10) helped the Cougars hang on for the win.

Misercordia held the lead for much of the first half but Marywod battled back despite being held scoreless for almost five minutes to open the game.  Down 19-11, Marywood chipped away at the Cougar lead and would take a 26-25 lead on a Robinson jumper with just under four minutes left in the half.  The Pacers and Cougars would trade leads for the next several minutes before Slanovec nailed a half-court three-pointer at the buzzer to put the visitors up 33-29 at the break.

Marywood tied the game at 41-41 at the 15:44 mark and went up two on a Chadli Charlot bucket at 15:16.  Both teams would hit a drought over the next two mintues until Williams knocked down a pair from the charity stripe to knot the game at 43-43.  Misericordia would build a four-point lead (49-45) over the next minute but a three from Marywood's James Lavan (Plains, PA) cut the visitor's lead to one.  The Pacers would reclaim the lead on a pair of Robinson free throws, but Del Prete answered with a three to put the visitors back on top.

The Cougars would not relinquish that lead the rest of the game.  Despite hitting just 60.5% of their free throw attempts for the game, the Cougars managed to knock down 8 of 11 attempts in the final three minutes of play to keep their lead.

D.J. Strayhorn (Henryville, PA) and Lavan each broke into double-digits for Marywood with 13 adn 10 points, respectively.  Misericoridia hit 49% of their shots from the floor for the game (25 of 51) and Marywood knocked down 41.3% (26 of 63) of their attempts.

Marywood will look to close the fall semester portion of their schedule with a win next Saturday when the Pacers host Berkeley College at 3:00 pm in non-conference action.
