Pacers Blank Defenders to Open CSAC Play

Scranton, PA - Marywood University made quick work of Baptist Bible College on a brisk Friday afternoon as the Pacers opened CSAC men's tennis action with a 9-0 win over the Defenders in Scranton.  Marywood, who moves to 3-3 on the year (1-0 CSAC), took only an hour and forty-five minutes to defeat their local rivals.  BBC fell to 1-1 (0-1 CSAC) on the year.

First and second doubles action took less than 30 minutes as Marywood won at both slots by an 8-1 score.  At one-doubles, Greg Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) and Dan Reynolds (Downsville, NY) teammed for their fourth win of the year while Evan Bolus (Clarks Summit, PA) and Tim Franzone (Staten Island, NY) also moved to 4-2 with their win at two-doubles.  Three-doubles, which featured Marywood's Bao Nguyen (Scranton, PA) and John Domider (Somerville, NJ) and BBC's Josh Jackson and Andrew Cartledge went a bit longer, but the Pacers prevailed 8-4.

In singles play, Franzone and Reynolds each blanked their counterparts at three and four singles with 6-0, 6-0 wins over Jacob Frantz and Matthew DeGroft, respectively.  Chilson improved to a team-best 5-1 record with a win in one-singles over Ryne Davies by a score of 6-1, 6-0.  Bolus, a freshman, moved to 4-2 at two-singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Thomas Davis.  Nguyen and Domider each won at five and six singles, respectively, to close out the 9-0 win for Marywood.

The Pacers return to action next Wednesday when they host Lebanon Valley College in non-conference action at 3:30 pm.
