Pacers Fall to Elizabethtown in Non-Conference Play

Scranton, PA – Elizabethtown College broke open a 1-1 game after the first quarter with 11 consecutive goals on their way to a 14-2 win over Marywood University in non-conference men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at the University of Scranton's Fitzpatrick Field. With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 3-1 on the season while the Pacers, who dropped their second straight decision, fell to 2-3.

Elizabethtown would take advantage of a Marywood broken stick just over four minutes into the game and with Pacers trying to sub a defender, Greg Kenneally found Aaron Weber who scored for the Blue Jays.

Marywood would tie the score with 43 seconds remaining in the opening 15 minutes when Jamie Beagen (Patchogue, NY) found Ryne Boyle with a pass while being checked and Boyle scored from close range.

The Blue Jays responded in a big way in the second quarter, as Weber scored three straight goals and Elizabethtown's Ryan McCafferty would follow up with four of his own to give the visitors an 8-1 halftime lead.

Elizabethtown got goals from four different players in the third quarter to hold a 12-1 advantage heading into the final period before Boyle stopped the Blue Jays' run by sweeping a lose ball into the net at the 13:11 mark of the fourth quarter.

Shawn Corcoran and McCafferty would tack on late goals for Elizabethtown to close out the scoring.

The Blue Jays held a commanding 41-9 advantage in shots for the game and a 52-36 edge in shots.

Hunter Malick made three saves to pick up the win and Austin Hayes made one stop in the final 10:45 for Elizabethtown.

Marywood's Jesse Habich (Broomall, PA) turned aside 12 shots by the visitors in the first 48 minutes of the game while Eric Luhrmann (Glen Falls, NY) made four saves in the final 12 minutes in the Pacers' cage.

The Pacers return to action this Saturday when they travel to Dover, Delaware to take on Wesley College in a non-conference game scheduled to face-off at 4:00 p.m.
