Cavaliers Best Pacers in Conference Tilt

Radnor, PA – Cabrini College conceded the first goal early in Wednesday afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game against Marywood University but responded with eight unanswered goals on their way to a 19-8 win over the Pacers. The Cavaliers improve to 4-2 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in conference play while Marywood falls to 2-5 on the year and 1-1 in the CSAC.

Alanna Waldron (Liverpool, NY) gave Marywood the early lead of Wednesday's match-up by converting a free-position opportunity just under a minute in a half into the game, but Cabrini responded with game's next eight goals and took an 8-1 lead with 8:36 to play in the opening half on an unassisted goal by Kellie Levy.

Taylor McKeown (Nashua, NH) got a goal back for Marywood but scoring on a free-position shot just under a minute after Levy's tally. The Cavaliers responded with three goals before Alexis Willey (Hummelstown, PA) scored off a Waldron assist with 1:05 remaining to cut the Pacers deficit to 11-3 at halftime.

Cabrini opened the second half with two goals in first three minutes of the period before McKeown tallied her second goal of the afternoon unassisted at the 25:18 mark.

Cabrini would use a five-goal run to stretch their lead to 18-4 with 13:24 to play on a marker by Danielle Rothermel.

With 11:46 to play, Marywood's Jennifer Roslund (Sussex, NJ) set-up McKeown's third goal of the afternoon. McKeown has registered at least a hat-trick in each of the Pacers' past six games and leads the team with 27 goals.

Waldron scored her second goal of the game off a feed from Meg Barbarino (Endwell, NY) with 7:43 to play and Allie Sodl (Coplay, PA) netted an unassisted marker with 5:54 remaining to close out the scoring as the Pacers' dropped their first conference game of the season.

Cabrini, who was lead by Amanda Alexandrowicz's five points on four goals and one assist, held a commanding 54-17 edge in shots for the game and a 30-15 advantage in the groundball battle.

Kate Schmidt made three saves in the first 46:55 in the Cavaliers' cage to pick up the win, while Gianna Porretta turned aside one Pacer shot over the final 13 minutes of the contest.

Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) made 23 saves between the pipes for Marywood.

The Pacers return to the field this Saturday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College in a CSAC match-up. Game time is scheduled to 12:00 noon in Scranton.
