Scranton, PA – Marywood University scored a season high 19 runs on 20 hits as the Pacers cruised past Baptist Bible College 19-0 in non-conference baseball action Friday afternoon in Scranton. Marywood's second straight win moves the Pacers to 5-9 on the year while the Defenders fall to 2-8.

West Scranton product Rick Clifford (Scranton, PA) picked up his first win on the mound after a strong seven inning effort. The freshman allowed just four hits while striking out seven on the day to improve to 1-0. Old Forge native John Stolan pitched two scoreless innings of relief for Marywood, striking out two while not allowing a hit or walk.

Marywood jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back, adding three more in the second, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and sixth and five in the seventh.

Matt Newcomb went 4-4 on the day with four RBI, a triple and three runs scored. Shortstop Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) was 4-5 on the day with a double and four runs scored. Ryan Cusomato (Sparta, NJ) was 2-4 with three RBI, while David Lewis (Scranton, PA) had three hits and an RBI. Catcher Dan Downton (Starrucca, PA) was 2-4 with a double and RBI.

For BBC, Seth McDonald was 2-3. Timothy Radcliff took the loss on the mound, falling to 1-2 on the year after allowing nine earned runs (12 total) on 13 Marywood hits. McDonald came in from shortstop in relief of Lee Gilbaugh and pitched a scoreless eighth.

Marywood and Baptist Bible will complete their season series Saturday in Clarks Summit with a doubleheader slated for a 12:00 pm start.
