Softball Extends Win Streak to Six, Sweep BBC

Clarks Summit, PA - Nikki Belles evened her record at 3-3 on the year with a complete-game, five hit shutout in the opener and the Pacers earned a 5-1 win in the nightcap to extend their win streak to six games as Marywood swept host Baptist Bible College in CSAC softball action Friday afternoon in Clarks Summit.  Belles, who struck out six, led Marywood to a 5-0 win in the opener as the Pacers improved to 13-5 (8-2 CSAC) on the year.  BBC fell to 9-7 (3-3 CSAC) with the pair of losses.

Belles (Rome, PA) took control of the opener, scattering five hits over seven innings, giving the Marywood offense time to settle in.  The Pacers' bats awoke in the third as Marywood plated two.  Marywood would extend their lead to 3-0 in the fourth and added two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

West Scranton product Asley Dommes (Scranton, PA) went 1-4 with a homer and two RBI in the opener while reigning CSAC Player of the Week Erika Cook (Wyalusing, PA) was 1-4 with a double and RBI.  Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) also recorded a double as part of her 1-4 effort in the opener.

Marywood got two runs in the first and two more in the second to build an early 4-0 lead in the nightcap and went on to win, 5-1.  Cook went 2-3 with a triple and two stolen bases in the second game, while Dommes was 2-3 with two RBI. 

Mallory Gable (Hughestown, PA) improved her record to 5-0 with a complete-game, four-hitter.  The senior struck out eight over seven innings of work for Marywood. 

The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host defending Conference Champion Neumann College in a crucial CSAC doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
