BOX SCORE

Scranton, PA – Gwynedd-Mercy College rallied from a three-goal deficit midway through the second half on their way to a 19-17 win over Marywood University in Colonial States Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon. With the win the Griffins remained unbeaten in CSAC play at 3-0 and improved to 5-3 overall while the Pacers see their record slide to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Marywood got off to a quick start behind two unassisted goals by Taylor McKeown (Nashua, NH), but Gwynedd-Mercy would respond with three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead with 18:42 to play in the first half.

Alanna Waldron (Liverpool, NY) put the Pacers back in front with two consecutive free-position goals, but again the Griffins would counter with two off their own to take a 5-4 lead.

Waldron sandwiched a pair of goals around an Allie Sodl (Coplay, PA) marker to give Marywood a 7-5 lead with 11:43 remaining in the opening stanza. After Gwynedd-Mercy's Victoria Geppert scored to bring the visitors back within a goal, Marywood rattled off the next three goals of the game to hold a 10-6 halftime lead.

The two teams traded goals over the first half of the second frame with McKeown's fourth goal of the afternoon at the 16:21 mark giving Marywood a 14-10 lead. From that point on, however, the Griffins would outscore the Pacers 9-3 on their way to come from behind victory.

The Griffins were led by Colleen Dellostretto, who scored eight goals, including six in during the decisive rally by Gwynedd-Mercy in the second half. Trisha Timony made 12 saves in nearly 52 minutes of play in the Griffins cage to pick up the win while Ashley McGinty made two stops in just over eight minute in net.

Marywood, who held a 37-32 edge in shots for the game, was lead by Waldron's six goals. McKeown finished the game with five goals while Sodl added three tallies for the Pacers.

Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) took the loss despite making 13 saves in Marywood's goal.

The Pacers will return to action on Tuesday when they host Cedar Crest College in a CSAC game scheduled to face-off at 4:00 p.m.
