Marywood Evens CSAC Record With Win Over Falcons

Scranton, PA – Taylor McKeown scored six goals and Allie Sodl added five as Marywood University evened their Colonial States Athletic Conference record with an 18-7 victory over Cedar Crest College on Tuesday afternoon. With the win the Pacers, now 2-2 in conference play, improved to 3-6 on the season while the Falcons see their record slip to 3-5 overall and 0-4 in the CSAC.

Sodl (Coplay, PA) gave the Pacers a 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the contest by scoring unassisted, by Cedar Crest's Kelly Oakes tied the score on a free-position shot two and a half minutes later.

Marywood would score the next three goals and hold a 4-1 advantage when Sodl scored on a free-position opportunity of her own with 23:18 to play in the opening half before Jesenia Holguin got one back for the Falcons.

The Pacers' McKeown (Nashua, NH) and Jen Silvestri (Warwick, NY) traded goals with a pair by the visitors, but Marywood would score four of the final five goals in the opening half to hold a 10-5 lead at the break.

The Pacers added the first three goals of the second stanza, including two by Jacquelyn Swallow (Richboro, PA) to hold a 13-5 lead with 23:02 remaining.

After a tally by Cedar Crest's Brittany Symbol, McKeown netted a pair for the Pacers, as Marywood finished the second 30 minutes of play scoring five of the final six goals to cruise to their second conference win of the season.

McKeown finished the afternoon with six goals to lead Marywood, who held a 39-16 edge in shots for the game and a 40-24 advantage in the groundball battle. Sodl tallied five goals on the afternoon, while Swallow added three.

Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) made eight saves in the Pacers cage to pick up the win.

The Pacers will return to action this Saturday when they visit Immaculata University for a CSAC contest that will begin at 1:00 p.m.
