BOX SCORE

Hackettstown, NJ – Kiti Ovaskainen and Danielle Bay each had six-point games to lead Centenary College to a 16-13 victory of Marywood University in a key Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Cyclones keep their playoff hope alive and improve to 6-4 on the season and 3-4 in the conference while the Pacers fall to 5-7 overall and 3-3 in CSAC play.

Marywood, who can still clinch a postseason berth with a win over the College of Notre Dame on Saturday, took a quick 2-0 lead on Wednesday afternoon on goals by Kelly Kuzicki (Vernon, NJ) and Jacquelyn Swallow (Richboro, PA).

Centenary responded with the game's next four goals to hold a 4-2 lead with 11:53 to play in the opening half.

The Pacers would battle back and tie the game at 5-5 with 5:06 remaining in the opening stanza on an unassisted goal by Carrie Glenn (Rifton, NY). Marywood's Jen Silvestri (Warwick, NY) and Taylor McKeown (Nashua, NH) also scored during the rally.

The Cyclones once again responded to build a two-goal lead before the Pacers tied the game on goals by McKeown and Allie Sodl (Coplay, PA), but the hosts would take an 8-7 lead into halftime courtesy of an unassisted goal by Megan Mars.

Coming out of the break, Centenary scored five consecutive goals including three by Bay and two from Ovaskainen to hold a 13-7 advantage with 21:53 to play.

The hosts responded to goals by Marywood's Alanna Waldron (Liverpool, NY) and Swallow with a pair of their own to hold a 15-9 lead with 13:35, but Marywood got four goals from four different players to cut their deficit to just two goals at 15-13 with 5:12 remaining.

The Pacers, however, were unable to come any closer and Chloe O'Rourke's goal with 1:15 to play iced the decision for the Cyclones.

Bay finished the game with a five goals and one assist for six points while Ovaskainen equaled the feat with three goals and three assists to lead Centenary, who out-shot Marywood 33-26 for the game and held a 31-21 edge in groundballs.

McKeown (three goals) and Sodl (two goals and one assist) each had three points to lead Marywood, who also got two goals apiece from Swallow, Glenn, and Kuzicki.
Leslie Pritchard made eight saves to pick up the win for the Cyclones while Marywood's Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) made ten saves in a losing effort.

Marywood will play host to Keuka College in non-conference action tomorrow afternoon in Scranton. The opening draw between the Pacers and Storm is slated for 5:00 p.m.
