Cougars Hold Off Pacers for 6-3 Women's Tennis Win

Dallas, PA - Misericordia University took two of three close doubles matches then earned wins at 1-4 singles as the host Cougars registered a 6-3 win over visiting Marywood University Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action.

Abby Searfoss and Ashley Mangabang teamed at one-doubles to earn a 9-7 win over Marywood's Ashey Karli (Blandon, PA) and Kara Hoff (Montoursville, PA). Marywood then fell behind 2-0 on the day after falling 8-5 at two-doubles, but the third-doubles team of Jessica Brogna (Pittston, PA) and Kellie Coleman (Carbondale, PA) earned an 8-5 win of their own give the Pacers their first point of the day.

But in 1-4 singles play, Searfoss, Maura Haupt, Mangabang and Courtney Otto won for the Cougar, now 2-0 on the year, giving them the six points on the day. Lindsay Burke (Yorktown, NY) improved to 2-0 on the year in singles action with a 6-1, 7-5 win at five singles, while Aubrey Klesh (West Hazleton, PA) gave Marywood their third point with a 6-0, 6-3 win at six-singles.

Marywood (0-2) returns to action Sunday in search of their first win as the Pacers travel to Newburgh, New York to face Mt. St. Mary College in non-conference action at 1:00 pm.
