Pacers Fall to 0-2, Drop Fifth Game to MSMC

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Marywood rallied from an early 0-2 deficit but could not hold off Mount Saint Mary College in a decisive game five as the Pacers fell to 0-2 on the young season with a 3-2 setback to the Blue Knights in the second game of the King's College Volleyball tournament Friday evening in Wilkes-Barre.

Finding themselves down 0-2 after close losses in games one and two (23-25, 25-27), Marywood rallied for a 25-19 win in game three and then forced a fifth and final game with a close win, 28-26, in game four.  But the Blue Knights would rebound from two straight set-backs and put away the Pacers with a 15-6 win in game five. 

Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) turned in her second eight-kill performance of the night, while fellow senior Taryn Borden (Bridgewater, NJ) also had eight kills.  Alyssa Hartranft (Mountaintop, PA) and Sarah Jastrzembski (Colonia, NJ) each had 17 assists.  Emily Fillman (Clarion, PA), Jessica Swida (Wilkes-Barre Twp., PA) and Riona Corr (Somersworth, NH) all had 12 digs.


Marywood will look to collect their first win in 2009 when they return to action Saturday when the Pacers will take on the host Monarchs and Misericordia University in the second day of the tournament.  A full recap of all tournament games will be available Saturday evening.
