Scranton, PA – The University of Scranton got first half goals from Kaitlyn Tirney and Julie Ozycz and the Royals defense did the rest to give the visitors a 2-0 win over Marywood University in non-conference field hockey action on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Royals improve to 2-2 on the season while the Pacers see their record slip to 1-1.

Scranton took a 1-0 lead 17:47 into Monday's game when Tirney fired home a shot from close range after taking a pass from teammate Corrie Szapka. The Royals, who held a 9-2 advantage in shots during the first half, got some breathing room when Ozycz scored off a rebound of her original shot with just 2:06 remaining in the opening 35 minutes of play.

Marywood turned up the offensive pressure in the second half looking to climb back into the game, but where unable to find the back of the cage despite holding a 3-1 edge in shots and 6-0 advantage in penalty corners in the period.

The Royals' Deirdre Rocklein made two saves to pick up the shutout while Marywood goalie Jamie Bowman made five saves.

The Pacers return to action this Saturday when the host King's College in a non-conference match-up scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
