Box Score

Scranton, PA - Poor second-half free throw shooting from visiting Keystone College nearly allowed Marywood University to come back from a large deficit but the Giants held off the Pacers 81-74 in CSAC men's basketball action Thursday evening in Scranton. The Giants improve to 8-3 in league play and 12-5 overall while Marywood falls to 5-12 (2-9 CSAC).

Keystone jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half after hitting 55% of their shots from the floor and going 7 of 14 from behind the ard. The Giants would take a 45-32 lead into the lockerroom thanks to 10 points apiece from Ryne Luce and Tercel Taylor.

Despite trailing most of the second half by the same margin, Marywood began fouling Keystone players with just under six minutes left in regulation. The strategy paid off, as the Giants hit just 22 of 41 free throws (54%) down the stretch, allowing Marywood to convert at the other end to get back to within six. However, some late missed opportunities by the Pacers at the offensive end and free throws by Taylor with under a minute to go iced the game for the visitors.

Marywood's Matthew Medici (Princeton Junction, NJ) had a game-high 21 points while D.J. Strayhorn (Henryville, PA) had 15 and John Foreman (Sleepy Hollow, NY) added 14 for the Pacers. Keystone placed three players in double-figures led by Luce's team-high 16 points. Taylor added 15 and Malcolm Boone finished with 11.

Marywood will look to end their three-game skid this Saturday when the Pacers visit Gwynedd Valley for a 4:00 pm game against Gwynedd-Mercy College.
