Gwynedd Valley, PA - Marywood University was dealt a fourth straight loss as the Pacers suffered a 80-59 setback at Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday afternoon in CSAC men's basketball action.  The loss drops the Pacers to 5-13 on the year and 2-10 in league play, while the Griffins remain near the top of the conference with an 8-3 mark and improve to 9-9 overall on the year.

Marywood, who shot just 32.3% from the floor for the game, fell behind by 25 after the opening half of play.  The Griffins were hot from the floor all game, connecting on 48% of their shots.  The Griffins, who never trailed, raced out to a 10-3 lead and would stretch that lead for the rest of the first half, going into the break with a 45-20 lead.  In the first half alone, Gwynedd's bench out-scored the Pacer bench 10-0.

GMC would go up by 28 on a three by Jon Hogga to start the second half and would continue to control play throughout the second half, going up by as many as 30 (64-34) on a Matt Johson jumper midway through the half.  Marywood's lone bright spot of the half was a 10-0 run to cut the Griffin lead to 17 with just under six to play, but Gwynedd extended their lead back to a 20+ point margin to seal the game.

Hogga led all scorers with 26 points on the day, while three other Griffins reached double figures.  Marywood got 13 points from Sidney Tharpe (Victorville, CA) but no other Pacer could reach double digits.

Marywood will look to snap their skid when the Pacers take on Neumann University Monday evening.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm in the Mellow Center.
