Gwynedd Valley, PA – For the third-straight game, a Marywood University women's basketball player set a new career-high in points, but for the second time in those three games, the Pacers came out on the losing end, dropping an 84-72 decision to Gwynedd-Mercy College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. Marywood, who got a career-best 24 points from Lauren Rogan, falls to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play with the loss while the Griffins improve to 12-5 on the season and 7-1 in the CSAC.
 
Gwynedd-Mercy built a 12-5 lead just over six minutes into Saturday's game, but Marywood would battle back to claim a 21-20 lead with 6:22 to play in the first half on a lay-up by Mariah Schaeffer (Bainbridge, NY). The Pacers would extend their advantage to four points before the Griffins answered by claiming a 28-26 lead on a Stacey Judge lay-up with 2:16 left and the hosts would hold a 33-29 lead at the break.
 
Marywood would open the second half with an 11-5 run and taking a 41-39 lead with 16:22 to play on a Marielle Thorsen (Belvidere, NJ) three-pointer. Gwynedd-Mercy reclaimed the lead on Brittany Neill three-pointer with 12:51 to play and stretched it to six points with 7:49 remaining. Stephanie Fusaro (Bala Cynwyd, PA) converted a pair of free throws to bring the Pacers back with 2 points at 55-53 with 8:32 showing on the clock, but the Griffins responded with a 16-3 run over the next four and half minutes to put the game out of reach.
 
Gwynedd-Mercy, who shot 46.4 percent from the floor for the game, was led by Jackie Dooley's 24-point performance. Dooley hit just four field goals, but went a perfect 16-16 from the free throw line. The Griffins got 17 points from Kate Wisniewski and14 from Bryn Cotteta while holding a 42-25 advantage in rebounds for the game.
 
Rogan (Archbald, PA) recorded her career-high 24 points after shooting 6-13 from the field including five three-pointers while going 7-8 from the charity stripe. The sophomore also pulled down a team-high six rebounds for the Pacers. Schaeffer, who had a career-high 27 points in a loss to Centenary College on Monday, finished the afternoon with 14 points while Thorsen had 10 for Marywood, who shot 45 percent from the floor for the game including 43.8 percent from beyond the arc and 73.3 percent from the free throw line.
 
Marywood returns home on Monday for a CSAC clash with Neumann University scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena, where the Pacers are a perfect 8-0 on the season.
