Glenside, PA – Arcadia University overcame a seven-point deficit late in the second half and got a game-winning basket at the buzzer to top Marywood University 58-56 in non-conference action on Monday evening. With the win the Knights improve to 4-6 on the season while the Pacers dropped their second-straight game to fall to 7-2.
 
Arcadia led throughout the entire first half, stretching their advantage to as many as 10 points on two separate occasions, the second coming after Jacki Law converted a pair of free throws for the hosts with 6:43 remaining in the opening twenty minutes of play to make the score 21-11. Marywood would end the half on a 9-2 run to cut their deficit to 23-20 at the intermission. 
 
The visiting Pacers continued their run early in the second half as Marielle Thorsen (Belvidere, NJ) drained a three-pointer just 50 seconds into the period to tie the contest at 23-23 before Marywood took their first lead of the evening on a Mariah Schaeffer (Bainbridge, NY) lay-up less than a minute later. The Pacers would stretch their lead to 48-41 with 4:20 to play on a Maggie Farrell (Telford, PA) free throw. 
 
Arcadia would battle back to tie the score at 54-54 with 2:27 on a Law field goal and the Pacers' Thorsen and Knights' Corrine Geiger traded buckets to make the score 56 apiece with 1:35. Following a late Marywood turnover and Arcadia timeout, Law nailed a jumper as the buzzer sounded to give Arcadia a thrilling 58-56 victory.
 
Kim Milligan led Arcadia with a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds while Law finished the evening with 18 points and eight boards. Geiger was the third Knight in double-digits with 13 points and eight rebounds as Arcadia finished the evening shooting 36.1 percent from the floor.
 
Schaffer's 21 points paced Marywood, who shot 42.9 percent from the floor, but just 23.1 percent from three point range and 52.4 percent from the free throw line. Amanda Lass (Brackney, PA) had 10 points for the Pacers, who got five rebounds apiece from Schaeffer, Thorsen, and Stephanie Fusaro (Bala Cynwyd, PA).
 
Marywood will return to action next Monday when the travel to Clarks Summit for a non-conference tilt with local CSAC rival Baptist Bible College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
