Gwynedd Valley, PA – Marywood University's volleyball team won its fourth straight match, defeating host Gwynedd-Mercy College in four sets in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Thursday night. The Pacers move to 12-6 on the year including a 5-2 conference mark while the Griffins record slides to 5-18 (3-3 CSAC).
Marywood take the first game in a convincing, 25-8 fashion before Gwynedd-Mercy leveled with a 25-21 decision in the second set. The Pacers would seal the victory though with wins of 25-11 and 25-22 in the third and fourth frames, respectively.
The Pacers got kills from eight different players, led by nine from Emily Fillman (Clarion, PA). Alyssa Hartranft (Mountain Top, PA) had a match-best 26 assists to go along with seven service aces, matching the Pacers' single-game high on the year. Rachel Tollett (Elkins Park, PA) collected 14 digs for Marywood.
The Griffins' got a match-high 18 kills from Rachel Lambert and 22 assists from Maria Stilwell in the loss.
Marywood returns to action next Tuesday when they host Cedar Crest College in a CSAC match scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
