Scranton, PA – Marywood University scored five first-half goals and cruised to a 6-0 victory over the College of Notre Dame in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Pacers improve to 6-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play while the Gators record falls to 4-6-1 on the season and 0-2-1 in the CSAC.
Marywood opened the scoring just 1:14 seconds into the game when Leslie Higham (North Brunswick, NJ) played a ball behind Notre Dame's back four that Emma Nye (Keene, NY)ran onto and scored on the breakaway. Siobhan Blancaflor (Haddam, CT) doubled the Pacers lead in the 7th minute with an unassisted goal on another breakaway. Blancaflor would add another goal and the Marywood got first half tallies from Erin Jones (Vestal, NY) and Olivia Habicht (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) to hold a 5-0 commanding halftime lead.
Habict netted her second goal of the game in the 53rd minute by heading home a corner kick that was served by Shannon Hresko (Gibbstown, NJ) to close out the scoring.
The Pacers held a command 21–2 advantage shots for the game and had five corner kicks to none for the Gators. Megan Coyle made one save in 45 minutes of play and Nicole Davis (Slate Hill, NY) made one stop in nearly 30 minutes of play. Dominique Kozuch (Jermyn, PA) played the final 15 minutes in the Pacers' net without being forced to make a save.
Notre Dame goalkeeper Mindy Daugerty finished the afternoon with eight saves.
Marywood returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Allentown to take on Cedar Crest in a CSAC tilt slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
