Scranton, PA - Neumann University got goals from three different players and scored two goals early in the second half to break open a tied game as the visiting Knights put a dent in Marywood's hopes of a playoff berth with a 3-2 win over the Pacers Saturday afternoon in Scranton. Neumann improved to 6-12, 5-3 CSAC with the win while Marywood stands at 3-11, 2-6 CSAC with one non-conference game remaining in the regular season.

Now needing a Cedar Crest win over Rosemont on Tuesday, Marywood controlled much of the play early but fell behind 1-0 as Ellyn Jones finished a Megan George cross at the far post to put the Knights up 1-0 on their first shot of the game.

Marywood responded with just under seven minutes left in the first half as Amber Stevens (Cleona, PA) finished a rebound to tie the game 1-1. Stevens' goal came after Brittany Beaton (Bethel, PA) fired a shot that was saved by a diving Maggie Carpenter.

With the score 1-1, Carpenter came up big for the visitors, blocking Beaton's breakaway with just over three minutes left in the half.

Early in the second half, Neumann went ahead 2-1 as Christina Hicks settled a Caitlin Donahue pass and beat Marywood's Erin Dawson (Jenkintown, PA). Then, just under two minutes later, Megan Scott got the eventual game-winning goal when she scored straight off a Erica Crabtree penalty corner. Scott settled the corner on the top of the arc and ripped a shot past Dawson to put the Knights up 3-1.

Marywood score with just :10 remaining as Dana Sweeney (Branchville, NJ) scored on a Beaton assist.

Dawson finished with three saves for Marywood while Carpenter had four in the win. Marywood closes out their 2010 regular season next Thursday when they travel to face Misericordia University.
