Second Half Burst Keeps Neumann Atop CSAC

Aston, PA - After a scoreless first half, host Neumann University scored two quick goals midway through the second half to break open a tight game and went on to beat visiting Marywood University 3-1 in CSAC men's soccer action Saturday afternoon in Aston. With both teams entering the game in a first-place tie with perfect 6-0 marks, Neumann improved to 11-3-1 and 7-0 in the CSAC with the win. Marywood slipped to 12-4, 6-1 CSAC and had a seven-game win streak snapped.

Tied 0-0 entering the 62nd minute of play, Neumann's Evan Morgan found the back of the net off a feed from Joshua McMillion to put the Knights up. Just 1:50 later, Alfred BAa-Adomako doubled the host's lead on a feed from Andy Attah. Attah then picked up his second helper of the afternoon with an assist on Neumann's third goal, a tally by Michael Frei at the 78:54 mark as the Knights went up 3-0.

Marywood answered late, scoring with just :11 on the clock as William Gordon (Harrisburg, PA) scored on a feed from Ryan Jones (Holland, PA). Gordon's tally was his fourth of the season while Jones' helper was his team-leading 10th of the year.

Shane Quinn (Clarks Summit, PA) made seven saves for Marywood as the Pacers were out-shot 16-12 on the day. Neumann's Bob Mastrillo made six saves for the win.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Gwynedd Valley for a 7:00 pm CSAC game against Gwynedd-Mercy College.
