Box Score

Scranton, PA - Marywood University scored two second half goals and the Pacers' defense blanked an opponent for a school-record 11th time as Marywood beat visiting Neumann University 2-0 to clinch the second seed in the upcoming CSAC women's soccer playoffs. Marywood (12-4-1, 9-1 CSAC) has earned a shut-out in each of their conference wins this season (9) and only allowed two goals in conference play all season long.

Neumann (6-7-1, 5-5 CSAC) looked dangerous several times early, but the Pacers' defense held strong until the offense got things going. The Knights, who will be the sixth-seed in the CSAC post-season, got two shots from Olivia Przybylkowski including a good look from the sophomore in the first half.

Knotted 0-0 at the half with the Pacers holding a 9-1 advantage in shots, Marywood wasted little time offensively in the second half as freshman Erin Jones (Vestal, NY) broke through just under five minutes into the second frame and scored her team-leading 11th goal of the year. Siobhan Blancaflor (Haddam, CT) made a beautiful turn in the corner to beat a defender and slotted a pass across the middle that Kaitlyn Hresko (Gibbstown, NJ) one-timed to Jones for the eventual game-winner. Both Blancaflor and Hresko were credited with assists on the play.

Then, just over five minutes later, Emma Nye (Keene, NY) found Hresko's sister Shannon 35-yards out down the right flank. Shannon Hresko one-timed a shot to the far post, beating an out-stretched Brittany Russ in Neumann's goal for an insurance tally.

From there, the Marywood defense limited the Knights to just two shots, none of which were on goal. Senior Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) picked up her 10th solo clean slate of the year, establishing a new program record.

Russ finished with five saves while Annika Dow made one stop in just under 8:30 of action.

Marywood will close out the regular season next Wednesday when the Pacers host King's College in a non-conference tilt at 7:00 pm.
