Gwynedd Valley, PA - Brian Wasser could not have picked a better time for his first career goal as the Marywood University senior scored just over three minutes into the second half to lift Marywood to a 1-0 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College Tuesday evening in CSAC men's soccer action. Wasser's goal, coupled with the Pacers' ninth shutout of the season, clinches a bye and the number two overall seed for the 13-4 men's soccer squad, who also set a new program record for wins in a season.

Marywood (7-1 CSAC) out-shot the host Griffins 10-3 in the opening stanza but only put three shots on frame and could not find the back of the net. Defensively, Shane Quinn (Clarks Summit, PA) made two stops for the Pacers to keep the game scoreless at half.

Early in the second half, Wasser (Telford, PA) found the back of the net on an unassisted tally.  Ryan Jones (Holland, PA) played a long restart into the Griffins' box and created a scrum in front of the net.  Wasser was able to slam home the loose ball from close range for  his first career goal. From there, the Pacers' defense held firm, allowing just two second half shots by the Griffins, only one of which was placed on goal.

Quinn finished with three saves to set a program record with his sixth solo shutout of the season as Marywood earned their ninth shutout of the season. The Pacers will close out the regular season with a 1:00 pm CSAC matchup against Cabrini College on Saturday in Scranton.
